Good morning. Welcome to today's Committee on Human Services and Homelessness, a hearing for resolutions. Thank you. Today is April 1, 2025. 11:30. We're here in room 329 and on Zoom. We only have one item on the agenda today.

HCR 37 requesting the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency to collaborate with relevant agencies to develop initiatives and outreach programs to inform kupuna about emergency preparedness. We have in person today in support AARP.

We stand on our written testimony. Just want to point out a couple things that kupuna are the most likely to die in every single disaster. Whether and Lahaina fire is a perfect example that three quarters of those who died were 60 and older.

The report on the Lahaina fire had no specific recommendations addressing how to prevent Kupuna De Vet. That's everything was in General, improve the roads, more outreach. And so we really appreciate you, Representative Chun and everybody else who sponsored and Representative Olds and Chair Martin for holding this hearing.

We really appreciate the idea that let's focus specifically on kupuna and caregivers and others who can really need the information and hopefully we can save lives.
