Joe Gedeon was appointed in May 2025 to take the seat of the late Rep. Gene Ward (Portlock, Hawaiʻi Kai, Kalama Valley). He is one of three Republicans on the House Finance Committee.
Gedeon was born and raised in Hawaiʻi Kai. He was an Eagle Scout and helped restore Koko Crater Botanical Garden after Hurricane ʻIniki. He is a graduate of Henry J. Kaiser High School, Kapiʻolani Community College and ITT Technical Institute in San Diego, and the co-founder of marketing and advertising companies JPG Hawaii and JPG Media.
