Angus McKelvey was a member of the state House for 16 years before moving to the Senate where he chairs the Government Operations Committee. He represents West Maui, Mā‘alaea, Waikapū and South Maui. He is a member of the LahainaTown Action Committee, Kihei Community Association and Rotary Club Lahaina Sunrise.
McKelvey has a law degree from Concord School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Whittier College. McKelvey lost his own home in the August 2023 Lahaina fire that destroyed most of the town and killed 102 people. He’s been an outspoken advocate for rebuilding Lahaina and helping people who lost loved ones, homes and businesses.
