    Matthias Kusch is vice chair of the House Agriculture and Food Systems Committee. He has lived in Hawaiʻi for over 30 years and represents Hāmākua and Kaūmana. He is retired from the Hawaiʻi Fire Department.

    His community service includes leadership roles with various organizations in farming and advocacy for affordable housing. Kusch has served with the West Hawaiʻi Fisheries Council and is currently with Smart Growth, which is primarily focused on affordable rentals on Hawai’i island.
