    Legislator

You. Next item, House Bill 1842. Recommendation is to pass unamended. Any discussion?

  • Brandon Elefante

    Legislator

Yes. Thank you, Chair. I'll I'll be voting with reservations on this. The parcel that is in question on the transfer is Westridge Parcel, and for the public and members, this is in IA. This is about close to a rail station, but the old Yum Yum tree, old Tony Roma's area.

  • Brandon Elefante

    Legislator

And so the concern that I have specifically, mister chair, is that I don't know if this is something that the city will accept in terms of negotiations for a transfer for Ali'i Place and what the real intent is behind that. The current land value of the property is at $16,350,000 and DLNR, holds that land and gets annual revenue. It's their fourth largest generating revenue for that property at 664 annual rent.

  • Brandon Elefante

    Legislator

And one of the concerns I have is this is something that as a state we would want to be giving up in terms of property and giving it to the city. And with all due respect to the city, I know they've been doing a lot in the affordable housing space, but this is a very valuable property in Central Oahu.

  • Brandon Elefante

    Legislator

So with that, I did have a conversation with the lead introducer of that, noting my concerns. But I still have concerns, and I appreciate the conversation. But I think going forward, we do have to really consider if this is something that the city would wanna take, and there's no testimony on this that the city would accept this property. And there is testimony from the ground owner that there's current leases there that won't expire for another forty six years.

  • Brandon Elefante

    Legislator

So this might be a little premature in that sense.

  • Brandon Elefante

    Legislator

So for those reasons, Mister Chair, I'll be voting with reservations. Thank you.

  • Donovan Dela Cruz

    Legislator

Thank you. You'll probably be here then too. Okay.

  • Committee Secretary

    Person

I'll be voting with reservations as well. And my concern is that the the building itself has an owner, and the owner is of state. And I'm there is an extended expiration of the property.

  • Committee Secretary

    Person

On the lease for that building. And so I don't think I don't think that the city is even considering purchasing the property the building itself from the owner. K. Thank you.

  • Donovan Dela Cruz

    Legislator

    Okay. For the hold.

  • Committee Secretary

    Person
