Bio
Mahina Poepoe was born and raised on Molokaʻi and currently represents a district spread across four islands. Her territory includes Moloka‘i, Lāna‘i, Kaho‘olawe, Kahului, Ha‘ikū, Pe‘ahi, Huelo, Nāhiku, Hāna and Kīpahuluhe. She is the vice chair of the House Judiciary and Hawaiian Affairs Committee.
Poepoe graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu with a degree in public administration while also owning and operating a local surf shop on Molokaʻi. A priority for her is community advocacy and volunteer conservation work. She co-founded Kūpeke Ahupuaʻa and has worked to set a zero cap on short-term vacation rentals on Molokaʻi.
