Templo is a second-generation Filipino American, born and raised in Kalihi. She has been a member of Democratic Party of Hawaiʻi State Central Committee, the Kalihi-Palama Neighborhood Board, the Farrington High School Alumni Association and the Oʻahu Filipino Catholic Club. Templo represents Kalihi, Kalihi Kai, Ke‘ehi Lagoon and Hickam Village.
