Garner Shimizu has lived in District 32 — Fort Shafter, Moanalua, Āliamanu and Foster Village — since childhood. After attending Moanalua Elementary, Intermediate and High Schools, he graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa with a mechanical engineering degree. He owned a sheet metal company and ran for elective office after retiring.
Shimizu is concerned about the cost of living and its impacts on crime, homelessness and the deterioration of the family including causing kamaʻāina to leave the state.
