Samantha DeCorte is from the Big Island where her mother’s family comes from one of the last known fishing villages in the state, Miloliʻi. Her father’s family hails from North Kohala. DeCorte lives on Oʻahu’s west side where her Senate distirct covers Ko ‘Olina, Nānākuli, Mā‘ili, Wai‘anae, Mākaha and Mākua.
“As a Native Hawaiian, I know the struggle and I represent our convictions, our faith, our families, and our freedoms,” she says on her website. “I have the grit and determination, and most importantly, the conviction to lead, reclaim territory, and fight for what was lost.”
