Hearings

Senate Standing Committee on Energy and Intergovernmental Affairs

April 1, 2026
  • Committee Secretary

    Person

Aloha. We're convening our joint committees with the Committee on Energy Intergovernmental Affairs, and our Soja Boyz from the Water, Land, Culture, and Arts Committee on this Wednesday, April 1. That's no joke. At 01:00 in Room 224. We are streaming this hearing live to our vast audience of zero in the room and millions online. And if we have any kind of difficulties, we will post notice on when we are going to reconvene. Oh, another soldier boy showed up. And, yes, we're gonna limit our testimony to two hours since no one's gonna testify.

  • Unidentified Speaker

    Person

    Careful what you ask for.

  • Glenn Wakai

    Legislator

Just joking. Two minutes. We have two items on this agenda. They are Senate Concurrent Resolution 189 and SR 179, both in support of Ukraine and encouraging the US government to provide necessary weapons for them to defend themselves. Members, we have absolutely no testimony for or against. We have nobody to ask questions of.

  • Glenn Wakai

    Legislator

This resolution was introduced by one of our colleagues who's in his last year here. So as a little gift to him on going out, we'd like to pass the... Oh, the two Chairs or the two soldier boys have conferred, and we would like to pass this measure out as they are. Any discussion?

  • Glenn Wakai

    Legislator

And we are going to have a few minutes for jokes between now and voting. Okay. No time for jokes. So the recommendations from the two Chairs are to pass both these resolutions as they are. Any discussion? If not, Senator Chang, I vote yes.

  • Stanley Chang

    Legislator

Chair's recommendation for SCR 189 and SR 179 is to pass unamended. Chair votes yes. Vice Chair votes aye. [Roll Call] Recommendation is adopted.

  • Chris Lee

    Legislator

Thank you. For the Committee on Water and Land, we'll be making the same recommendation, but we'll defer the decision making to the end of our 1:01pm agenda as we wait for some of our colleagues to arrive.

  • Glenn Wakai

    Legislator

    We are adjourned.

  • Chris Lee

    Legislator

Good afternoon. We're convening the Committee on Water, Land, Culture, and the Arts on our 1:01pm agenda here in State Capitol Conference Room 224. We have SCR 22 and SR 19, which were previously heard by this committee recognizing the fiftieth anniversary of the restoration of Ahuena Heiau and affirming its unparalleled role in the spiritual, political, and cultural history of the state.

  • Chris Lee

    Legislator

Recommendation is to pass as is. If there's no discussion... Oh, sorry. Recommendation is to pass with amendments making technical and non-substantive amendments, and moving this on. There's no discussion. Acting Vice Chair.

  • Rachele Lamosao

    Legislator

Okay. Members, for SCR 22 and SR 19, recommendation of the Chair is to pass with amendments. Chair Lee votes aye. [Roll Call] Chair, your recommendation is adopted.

  • Chris Lee

    Legislator

Thank you. And then returning to the measure previously deferred from five minutes ago, SCR 189 and SR 179, requesting support for Ukraine. Recommendation to pass as is. Vice Chair for the vote.

  • Rachele Lamosao

    Legislator

Okay. For SCR 189 and SR 179, recommendation of the Chair is to pass unamended. Anyone present wanting to vote with reservations or no? No vote for Senator DeCorte. Anyone else voting with reservations or no? Hearing none. Chair, your recommendation is adopted.

  • Chris Lee

    Legislator

Thanks very much. Alright. We're adjourned.
